Cheal was delighted to purchase Canmap Hawley in Rotorua in April 2014. Canmap Hawley’s Managing Director Mark Dyer was appointed Surveyor General for New Zealand and took up his new position in Wellington on 1 April 2014. Cheal is pleased to be able to incorporate the skills and experience of the Canmap Hawley team into its overall operation.
Our goal is to enhance the provision of services within the Rotorua and Eastern Bay of Plenty district and beyond, and with the addition of a wide range of Engineering expertise to an already established Surveying and Planning presence, we have the utmost confidence that we can achieve this and that our clients will gain significant benefit.

Cheal has had a presence in the Ruapehu District since March 2008 when we merged with Ian Blance, an established Surveyor who has worked in the district for over 30 years. Now managed by Dean Sherrit, who also heads up our Ohakune office, we are able to provide Engineering, Surveying and Planning services throughout the Ruapehu and King Country region and beyond. This largely rural area provides unique project opportunities and our collective experience means that we can provide our clients with detailed knowledge and solutions to their development requirements.
