Maori Asset Development

The name Cheal is closely related to the development of Ngāti Tūwharetoa. It is in the 1920’s that the Cheal family undertook the survey of Taupō-nui-ā-Tia which led to the creation of the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, the first Māori Trust Board in the country. Since then the company has provided a range of services to its Maori client base including; water management, resource consents, property advice, land development, geothermal power station development, marae redevelopment, GIS, engineering and surveying.

Our Māori client base is worth a considerable amount to the Māori economy and we are proud to have long associations with organisations such as Tūaropaki Trust, Waipapa, Tauhara North No.2, Ōpawa Rangitoto 2C, Pukawa D2 and D3, Hauhungaroa No6 Trust, Ngati Tahu and more recently the Tūhoe Trust and Tauhara Moana.

We have worked together to complete a vast range of projects that have added value to their cultural and economic assets. These projects will provide for their tamariki and mokopuna in the future.
